Thanksgiving is now just days away. The time for great food, family and new memories being made is almost here. What could be better than eating delicious sweets and treats, while being surrounded with your favorite people? And with this new “DIY” or Do It Yourself craze, so many different festive snacks can be created from your own kitchen, rather than being purchased from the store.
First up, Pumpkin IceBox Squares. These decedent little snacks only take 20 minutes to make and require a few simple ingredients.
For the crust you will need graham cracker, sugar and butter.
The filling calls for 1 can of pumpkin, cream cheese, brown sugar and cinnamon, milk, gelatin, water and orange zest for an extra added zing!
All you do is mold your crust together and pop it into the oven at 350°, then mix up the filling, scoop it in and let it chill before serving. You can also top your square with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for a twist.
Affordable, different and festive. Perfect for this coming Thanksgiving, or if you are up for trying something new.
For another dose of harvest season yumminess, Cupples are quick and a fun DIY.
For making a Cupple all you will need is an apple, a spoon, lemon juice, cranberry juice, apple cider, seltzer and a cinnamon stick.
To make the Cupple, slice off the top of the apple. Hollow it with a spoon, leaving roughly 1/4 inch walls. To prevent browning of the apple, caused by oxidization, brush the inside of the Cupple with lemon juice.
This Thanksgiving thirst quencher needs you to combine 1 part cranberry juice, 1 part cider and 1 part seltzer. Garnish each drink with a cinnamon stick and serve to your guests.
Creative, delicious and all your classic holiday favorites meshed into one!
One of the best parts about Autumn besides Thanksgiving is the foliage.
Now if there were only a way to combine the beautiful leaves seen outside into a fun snack…
Well Aut-yum Leaf Cookies are just that fun treat!
You’ll need 1 egg, 1 teaspoon of water, prepared pie crust, mini chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, raw sugar and flour.
Heat the oven to 375° and mix your ingredients together.
On a floured surface roll out your pie crust and use a leaf shaped cookie cutter to make your leaves.
Sprinkle your mixed chips and sugar mix on one leaf, brush your egg wash over it and then top the pocket with another leaf cut out. Also cover the top leaf in the wash.
Let your leafy goodness brown in the over for 10-12 minutes and serve with a Cupple for an overload of Thanksgiving sweetness!
