Syd will be performing at Salve Regina Unviersity on Wednesday, March 2, 2005

Singer/songwriter and recording artist, Syd, will perform tonight, Wednesday, March 2, 2005, at Salve Regina University. The performance will be part of the coffeehouse presentation which the Salve Campus Activities Board (CAB) puts on every other week throughout the semester.

Syd is a 22 year old pop/rock artist who plays the guitar and sings his own lyrics and is trying to make a name for himself around college campuses. He has recently released his sophomore album, Fault Lines, that according to his publicist, Melanie Wages, has received excellent reviews.

One member of CAB, Brandon Gavin, who helps organize the coffeehouse performances, said that CAB found out about Syd through an agent that they go through to book artists for Salve.

“They send sample CDs to us. We listen to them and choose an artist that we think students will like,” Gavin said. “Last year we heard a sample of Syd and thought he would generate a large audience and we were correct.”

Gavin said that the turnout from Syd’s performance last year was one of the best. “A lot of people liked him so we decided to book him for another year,” Gavin said.

The performance will start at 8p.m. in the Wakehurst Student Center. The cost is free.
