Welcome Back to School, fashionistas!
Yes, that dreaded time of the year is back again. Long gone are the lazy days of summer. Our favorite season of the year arrived and finished with fresh unique styles, from neon tanks to white, lace-trimmed denim shorts.
Every September spurs the same old thought process- “What do I wear do class”, and “How do I look good while being comfortable at the same time?”
Contrary to what our peers may think, looking stylish and “comfy” is a difficult task, especially when one has class at 8 am, and thus has little time to plan an outfit. As the beautiful Newport weather gets chillier, those of us who cannot settle for sweatpants and a sweatshirt can find dressing for rain and snow to be quite the daunting task.
With this in mind, The Mosaic asked three stylish Salve ladies to lend their fashion wisdom and share just how they keep up their daily appearance in Newport’s less than comfy weather.
This is what we found:
“I would probably wear my leggings with high length boots, and an oversized sweater.”
-Victoria Warwick ’15
Leggings or yoga pants ( if a thicker fabric is preferred ) are always a go-to for their stretchy, easy movement, while their tight look create an elegant appearance. To switch up your look daily, opt for printed leggings.
Urban Outfitters has a great selection starting at $40.
Not really your style? There are plenty of ways to mix and match with basic black as well. Try a different type of texture in a black hue, such as leather or snake-skin. H&M is always a great source for these and their prices are student friendly, ranging from $15-30 a pair.
“Scarf! All the way.”
-Alexandra Stabile ’14
A scarf is a great way to spice up an otherwise simple outfit, even if it is a hoodie and jeans. Try differ ent textures and patterns to switch up your look. Francescas has a great variety ranging from $18 up.
“Juicy Couture stuff is my favorite!”
-Hilary Santos ’14
At the end of the day, who says sweatpants and a zip-up hoodie are not stylish? A simple jumpsuit when worn with a vibrant-type material, such as velour, can make lounging around at the library look glamorous. Juicy Couture has your selection of every different color of velour sweats and hoodies ranging from $50 and up.
So there you have it fashionistas. You now know what the sophisticated ladies of Salve are thinking when they are getting ready on those oh-so-sluggish Monday mornings.
Until next time, happy shopping!
