No Doubt About White-Out

By Erica Shay –

The excitement of starting a new school year has not yet died down. Not even the gloomy weather last Friday, September 23, could stop Salve students from getting out of their rooms to be active and carefree after a week of classes. The students gathered together with friends and made their way to Ochre Court for a Friday Night Live event – the White-Out Dance.

Campus was filled with excitement and eagerness as students chatted about the night ahead. The “white-out” theme seemed to grab everyone’s attention to buy tickets for the event. The student activities board’s advertising was apparently successful, having sold-out by the time Friday had rolled around.

In the freshman dorms especially, everyone was dressing up in their white and neon clothes getting ready to start their weekends with a light-hearted, on-campus event. The sun went down, and the lights flashing through Ochre Court lured the students in. Once the crowd made their way in, hands were stamped and the students were off to the dance floor! The WSRU DJ played a variety of music keeping everyone in high spirits as they continued to dance.

The music played from 9:00 p.m. until 1:00 a.m. when the students had finally become tired from all the dancing they had done with their friends. Freshmen Bethany Thomas and Erin Ronnfeldt reminisced on the night, explaining how “This dance was even better than the last because now everyone is really getting to know each other.”

“The DJ was great, and it was awesome to have an event where the majority of students were together,” explained freshman, Kristen Benincasa. Student Activities was successful in bringing the students together and providing a social event where everyone was included. The excitement in the room and the beautiful back drop of the ocean just footsteps away made it a night to remember.  Thanks to Student Activities and everyone who attended.
