Autumn: The Season of Nostalgia

By Ciara Speller | Broadcast Editor

October –  the month when fall opens up its warm leafy arms and welcomes us in to enjoy our favorite sweets and treats.

The month where it is acceptable to order a pumpkin muffin and coffee at the same time, without wondering if the cashier at Dunkin Donuts is judging you.

Where eating caramel apples, pounds of miniature wrapped chocolates, paying money for someone to jump out of no where and scare the life out of you, and dressing up as something you will never actually be, is a norm.

The month where people wait for you to ask what day it is on October 3rd, making reference to that memorable scene in Mean Girls, which will never get old.

The month where life just seems so fun and worth living.

And now, the best part about this month… The time has come! Watching Disney channel at age 21 is socially acceptable because your all time favorite Halloween movies growing are now playing!

Thats right, Hocus Pocus, Beetlejuice, Don’t Look Under the Bed and the Halloweentown sequels are back! How many memories of you in your younger years waiting to watch these after dinner and bath time just flashed back to you?

There’s nothing better than finishing up a long days work in the class room by consuming excessive amounts of kettle and candy corn, crammed on the couch with your roommates and watching some throwback Halloween movies.

We all know how much our society loves throwbacks,  from throwback Thursday to Transformation Tuesday, we love the past. So lets see what some Salve students favorite #TBHM ( throwback halloween movies) across campus!

Under Wraps is definitely one of my favorites. ” – Brad Kelly

“The original Halloweentown is my favorite throwback Halloween movie.” – Ryan Kelly

“I would say that all of the Halloweentowns were my favorite movies growing up as a kid.” – Bri Cain
