Hip-Hop heads around the globe should be more than just familiar with Somali MC, K’naan by now. Following his 2009 inspirational second studio album, “Troubadour,” tracks like ‘Wavin’ Flag,’ ‘I Come Prepared,’ featuring Damian Marley and ‘ABCs,’ featuring Chubb Rock are certainly aged highlights that come to mind.
Nevertheless, the Somali MC dropped a fresh 5-track EP entitled, “More Beautiful Than Silence” just this past Tuesday, Jan. 31 and it definitely demands your ears.
K’naan, whose real name is Keinan Abdi Warsame, has not only been compared to the likes of Eminem in terms of his method, as well as his voice, but K’naan has even had the opportunity to collaborate both in the studio and on stage with a-list artists like, Lenny Kravitz, Adam Levine and Jason Mraz.
Needless to say, K’naan’s highly anticipated collaboration with Nas on the rags-to-riches joint, “Nothing to Lose” is a certified gem from “More Beautiful Than Silence.” Be sure to check it out.
The 33 year-old teamed up with Los Angeles-based producer, Chuck Harmony this time around, pumping cognizant street rhymes, reggae fusion and activist verse to a new height.
Other tracks include, ‘Is Anybody Out There’ featuring Nelly Furtado, ‘Better,’ ‘More Beautiful Than Silence’ and ‘Coming to America.’
A full-length album is set to trail the EP this spring. “More Beautiful Than Silence” is currently available on iTunes.
