Fall Wardrobe Tips

Even though temperatures reached 80 degrees in Newport this past weekend, autumn is officially here! Make the transition from the end of the summer heat wave to the first few weeks of chill easier by incorporating some of your summer clothing with your favorite fall wardrobe staples.

1. Wear tights under your jean shorts

If you still want to get some use out of your go-to summer jean shorts, then put on a pair of tights underneath them. Doing this keeps your legs warm and also adds a little bit of class to your outfit as you trek around campus. Textured tights look especially amazing with plain jean shorts.

2. Blanket scarves are cuddly

Blanket scarves are the ideal combination of fashionable and practical. They add a slouchy and cozy vibe to your outfits, but also work as a snuggle buddy during class or a convenient cushion to sit on at the park.

3. Layer it up

If you find yourself weather confused in the next few weeks, then the perfect solution is to grab your favorite oversized flannel to wear on top of a tank. You can use it to keep warm or tie around your waist if you get hot during class…we all know how it is having class in McAuley when there’s even the slightest bit of humidity in the air. I wear flannels with everything in the fall because of how versatile they are. Another style piece I love is the long cardigan, which is a great replacement for a jacket when it isn’t too cold out.

4. Boots are your friend

Booties look great with everything, especially jeans! I love ones with chunky heels because they are easier to walk in and don’t hurt my feet throughout theday. Also, putting on a pair of socks with lace trim to stick out of your boots adds a cute and feminine touch to your outfit.
