Spring Break fever has hit our campus full throttle and March 9, which is when most Salve students begin their break, cannot come quickly enough. So what are Salve students planning to do over this nice leave from their studies? Some are probably heading to a nice relaxing beach house in Tampa or a tranquil lake house in Winnipesaukee; some may even be heading overseas on a service trip to dedicate time to someone less fortunate.
Whereever you are heading, even if it may be far away from home, I can guarantee you it will be a worth wild break. According to travel.usnews.com, the top eleven cheapest Spring Break destinations for college students are as follows: The Bahamas, which is at the top of the list for the most affordable places to visit in the Caribbean. The all-inclusive resorts are all fairly inexpensive and there are many fun things to do in both Nassau and Paradise Island. Puerto Rico may not have the typical Spring Break buzz, but playing in the clear water beaches and hitting up the night clubs are well received activities by college students.
Jamaica is number three on the list. There is so much culture to find there, as well as scenic beaches and majestic nature which just takes your breath away. South Padre Island, located on the tropical tip of Texas right here in the United States, is becoming more and more of an attraction site for Spring Break as well. Although quiet on occasion, there are plenty of exciting things to do at night which are very accessible by car. Cancun is by far the ultimate spring break destination. Hotels are very affordable, and who could pass up being served drinks while lying by the pool in the sun?
Puerto Plata has become very tourist-oriented also, and the beaches are a big bonus. Number seven on the list is Daytona; affordable and packed with college students from shore to shore, what else could you ask for? Punta Cana, Playa del Carmen, Cabo San Lucas and Ocean City are also found on this hit list of spots and all have similar reviews. They are all inexpensive enough for a college student’s budget, have amazing sites to see, nice weather and great food and drinks. Whatever your pleasure, I wish you a fun filled and relaxing Spring Break.
Where are you headed?
Amanda Morton- For Spring Break I will be going to Tampa, Florida and staying with my grandparents. Along with spending time with them I hope to lay out by the pool and go to the beach a lot. I am excited to get away from the cold weather for a while!
