This Thanksgiving serves up a feast of NFL football dripping with playoff
potential.
Toss that turnip to the dog, adjust a few mirrors, tell your grandma your roomate plays for Green Bay; do what you have to do to watch the Packers at Detroit’s Ford Field.
Kicking off at 12:30pm EST is the (6-5; 3-2 Away) Green Bay Packers at Detroit Lions (3-8; 3-2 Home).
Actually neither team has been impressive (unless you consider Detroit’s road losing streak, one glorious loss away from tying the 1981-1984 Houston Oilers’ streak of 23 straight road losses, impressive) so skipping Turkey Day dinner may not be necessary. With Packer QB Brett Favre out, look for Running Back Ahman Green to put up some big rushing yards. If you’re a Detroit fan forget about the “W” and watch Joey Harrington mature into what may become a league-leading QB in years to come.
Kicking off at 4:05pm EST is the (7-4; 4-1 Away) Miami Dolphins at NFC East leader Dallas (8-3; 5-1 Home).
With their win Sunday Dallas is guaranteed at least a .500 record for the first time in the last four seasons. Coach Bill Parcells was reported to say on the win, “We’re not losers anymore. We’re something else. Our record makes us something else.”
Dallas is favored to win by a field goal. Miami needs a game out of stud
running back Ricky Williams and their defense needs to fluster Dallas QB Quincy Carter in order to win this game.
This short week in NFL Football provides for four days and nights of games in one weeks time. Thanksgiving Day. Football. This year pilgrims find their destiny in Detroit and Dallas. Eat up!
