One of Salve Regina University’s newest organizations, the Gay, Straight, Lesbian and Bisexual Alliance (GSLBA), will be holding a day of silence on Wednesday, April 21.
This event will last nine hours and will recognize and protest the harassment, prejudice and discrimination that lesbian, gay or bisexual people face.
Anyone interested in participating in the day of silence will be required to hand out cards with a message explaining their acts of silence, as well as keeping a vow of silence from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Those interested in participating must sign up and attend the next GSLBA meeting, which will be held on Thursday, April 15 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in Wakehurst 101.
Please bring a solid t-shirt to the meeting, since t-shirts will be made using fabric paint. All are encouraged to attend the meeting to answer any questions about the event.
GSLBA is an organization that promotes education, awareness, support and acceptance of GSLB students and works to reduce homophobia. The day of silence is also an official project of the gay, straight, lesbian education network in partnership with the student association.
