Fun Fact: Mansolf was on the Today Show when I was 8.
Involved heavily on campus, you may know Sam as the manager for Salve Baseball. On top of these admirable commitments to athletics, Mansolf is involved as the public relations coordinator of the Mosaic Student Newspaper, chief communications officer for the Campus Activities Board, devout member of Ping Pong Club, as well as a host her brand new podcast on Seahawk Radio. Her new podcast, run alongside her roommate and fellow junior, Anna-Olivia Ungert, is titled “Two Involved.”
“Our podcast strives to connect with a diverse group that will hopefully make Salve students feel more connected with one another,” Mansolf explains. “It’s also a great place for me and Anna to commit acts of tomfoolery for all of Salve to hear.”
In pinpointing her celebrity status, I took the chance to get to know Sam a bit more— over a charcuterie board and some great conversation:
In asking Sam about whether she recognizes her celebrity status, she immediately dismayed that belief as she laughed. “I don’t have a celebrity status here on campus,” she thinks. Quite humble of Sam to say, judging by her immense involvement and well-known presence.
When asked if her recognizability ever hindering academic pursuits, Sam did allude to how difficult it was to juggle managing football and baseball with being a peer mentor this fall. Sam also finds difficulties with finding a nice and quiet place to get work done in McKillop.
“When I’m in the library, on the first floor, it’s often difficult to get work done,” Sam explains. “I love saying hello to my friends, but oftentimes it’s too much when I’m really trying to put my head down and get work done.”
Clearly, we have an individual with a celebrity status on our hands, as having a difficult time getting work done in the library due to how many fans try to get a peek at you just screams Hollywood.
As for Sam’s hopes for the future, she aims to use her Salve skills after graduation to become a sports photographer. I asked her straight up, “do you see yourself as the next George Corrigan?”
Does she see herself as the next George Corrigan? Boldly, Mansolf confesses: “I don’t want to be the next George Corrigan. I want to be me.”
