This past Tuesday, March 19th in the DiStefano lecture hall, Salve Regina welcomed The New York Times investigative reporter Megan Twohey for a moderated Q&A. On behalf of The Mosaic, editors-in-chief Emma Liarikos and Caitlyn Bailey wrote and asked questions for the event.
In 2017, Twohey and Jodi Kantor broke the story of Harvey Weinstein’s pattern of sexual harassment and abuse within Hollywood and Miramax, Weinstein’s television company. The two then went on to publish She Said, an extensive account of their investigation that offered insight into their journey towards the truth. The book was then adapted to the silver screen in 2022.
Due to her investigative work, Twohey was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Public Service and was named one of Time Magazine’s most influential people of the year in 2017. The reporter also has documented dangers to kids, uncovering a black market for adopted children and shutting it down.
The moderated Q&A covered topics such as Twohey’s book, the journalist’s experience with investigating the sexual misconduct of Donald J. Trump and her article about Kanye West’s antisemitic behavior within his Adidas partnership. The audience was able to ask additional questions about experiences that have stuck with Twohey and her involvement within the adaptation of She Said.
“We were honored to welcome Megan Twohey to our campus,” said Emma Liarikos, one of the interviewers of the event. “Her perspective and experiences were eye opening for our student body and we are so grateful for the opportunity to interview her.”
The Mosaic would like to express gratitude to audience members for their attendance, as well as Megan Twohey and her team for the incredible opportunity.
