With fall in full swing, many of us are looking for fun, festive activities to do (especially when trying to be safe from Covid-19). Well, if you are looking for an entertaining activity, look no further than The Hard-Pressed Cider Company!
Located at Windmist Farm in Jamestown, RI, The Hard-Pressed Cider Company is the ideal location for an afternoon of fall festivities! The company, which was started in 2014 by Rob and Jacyln Swanson, offers fresh pressed apple cider and doughnuts flavored with the beverage every weekend at the farm. In addition, the truck (where all of their cider is sold) offers cider slushies, cider by the half-gallon or cup, and even local produce and pumpkins!
Due to the recent pandemic, business has been a bit busier than normal. However, the company is making sure that everyone if staying safe. Social distancing of six feet apart is required while in line, face masks/coverings must be worn at all times, and surfaces are sanitized frequently.
I went to the farm to try the cider and doughnuts myself and I must say, they did not disappoint! The cider was very rich and full of flavor – as it should be this time of year! Every week, the company “headlines” several varieties of apples from local farms to feature in their cider and doughnuts (when I went, it was MacIntosh and Honeycrisp), and you can really taste the variety of apples in all of their products.
The apple cider doughnuts are a fan favorite, and I can clearly see why. They are served to you warm and covered with an immense amount of cinnamon-sugar. The doughnuts are far from greasy, but rather light and fluffy. Plus, there are pieces of apple and their fresh pressed cider incorporated into the mixture! You may want to get their early, as I waited one hour to get the delectable delights, but they are worth the wait.
Overall the food is marvelous, and the local aspect of the venue is incredible. I would recommend everyone go and try it out, as you will have no regrets.
The Hard-Pressed Cider Company is located at Windmist Farm in Jamestown, RI from September 25th until November 22nd from 10am-4pm – Saturdays and Sundays only.
Go check them out for a perfect fall day!
