After four years of hard work, late nights in the library and endless cups of Jazzman’s coffee, the Class of 2010 will be graduating on May 16, 2010, but not before they are treated to a little end-of-the-year fun. The Office of Student Activities will once again be hosting Senior Week. Starting the Monday after finals, seniors are invited to participate in a variety of activities before they put on their black gowns and accept their diplomas.
On May 10, 2010 a trip to Block Island is planned. Twelve miles off the coast of mainland Rhode Island, the island offers gorgeous clear-water beaches and well-preserved natural open-areas providing visitors with a relaxing atmosphere perfect for de-stressing after the last round of finals. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the Office of Student Activities while space is available. On May 11, 2010 seniors can head downtown to One Pelham East for Night at the Pelham. With live music from Those Guys, the Pelham will be open only to graduating seniors for the night. Spend the night hanging out with all of your closest friends and a few of those kids you haven’t seen since freshman year. Tickets are $10 and be purchased at the Office of Student Activities while space is available. On May 12, 2010 seniors are welcome to enjoy a traditional New England Lobster Bake at Kempenaar’s Clamebake Club in Middletown. Play a game of volleyball or horseshoes or sit back and relax while dinner is prepared. With an outstanding reputation and a rave review from the New York Times, Kempenaar’s Clambake Club is sure to serve up a delicious dining experience. Not a seafood fan? Not a problem. Seniors can choose lobster, steak or a vegetarian option. Tickets are $30 and can be purchased at the Office of Student Activities. On May 13, 2010 seniors are invited to the 60th Annual Commencement Ball at the Newport Marriott Hotel. A formal event which includes a reception, dinner and dancing, the Ball is the premier activity of Commencement Week. Toss aside your sweatpants and slow dance with that boy (or girl) you’ve had a crush on freshman year. Remember to bring your orientation t-shirt to get $10 off your ticket price. Tickets are $60 each and can be purchased at the Office of Student Activities while space is available. On May 14, 2010, seniors can sip cocktails with their classmates at the Senior Cocktail Reception sponsored by the Office of Alumni/ Parent Programs. Tickets are $5 in advance and $8 at the door and can be purchased at the Office of Student Activities. Seniors, enjoy your finals week at Salve Regina University and before you head-off to where ever life takes you, come join in the fun during Senior Week.
