Facebook, friends and failing grades, oh my!

A recent study conducted at Ohio State University has proven that college students’ use of Facebook leads to lower grade point averages. The study showed that Facebook users generally had GPAs from 3.0 to 3.5.

While a student at Salve, Leila de Bruyne spent four summers volunteering at By Grace Disabled and Orphans Centre in Nairobi, Kenya. Each year, she returned with more friends and more money, but she knew it wasn’t enough. Thus, in 2007, Flying Kites was born.

On Oct. 17, 2009, the Glenna Kohl Fund for Hope will host the first Angel’s Masquerade Ball in Ochre Court at 6:30 p.m. The event is being held in memory of Glenna Kohl, a Salve Regina graduate who passed away after a three-year battle with skin cancer.

After her diagnosis in 2005, Glenna Kohl became an advocate for skin cancer awareness.

This year, Salve Regina University welcomes a new chaplain, Father Kris von Maluski. Father Kris discussed his decision to become a priest and his plans for the future of Salve.
