New Club on Campus Love 146 Spreads Awareness About Human Trafficking

There is a relatively new club on campus, and although like most clubs it encourages members to have fun and form close bonds, it is on a very serious mission to change the world for the better. The club is Love146, based on the organization of the same name, and its sole purpose is to end sex trafficking, a major issue that is very prevalent and should be acknowledged and addressed.

On Nov. 20 and Nov. 21, a packed audience watched SRU dance perform their fall performance, “Power Trip,” in Rodgers Recreation Center. The performance was named after the Kanye West song “Power,” which is the show’s opening dance.

There was certainly plenty of power and energy in the performance, made up of 27 dances ranging from hip-hop, Irish step, tap and jazz.

If one were in Wakehurst student center Friday evening, one would be surrounded by large crowds of students, as well as the echo of Christmas music festivities, part of the first annual “A Very Wakehurst Christmas.” The Office of Student Activities has been working very hard this year in coming up with new campus traditions, and what better way to bring students together during the holiday season than a celebration of Christmas cheer.

Look around your dorm room, your house or a relative’s house and you may find stray buttons, beads, old clothes, old curtains and numerous other random odds-and-ends. Instead of this “junk” lying in drawers and closets, it can be put to good use.

The Office of Community Service is looking for fabric, beads, zippers, threads, etc.

Well, I know it has been a while. I have a good excuse, though. Since I’ve last written, I have been to Madrid, Montpelier, Barcelona, Sussex, Cardiff, and Chepstow. It has been a crazy few weeks, I assure you.

Well, I must say that as much as I am loving traveling around Europe, traveling to three places in ten days was a challenge.
