At any university, it is important to participate in extracurricular activities and school functions. Salve Regina makes this easy and enjoyable through the Campus Activities Board, better known as CAB. CAB is a volunteer student organization that has hosted many of the trips and events available to students. The activities are separated into categories as follows: comedy, travel, special events, outdoor travel and concerts. The goal of CAB is to provide an organization which appeals to students’ needs, attitudes and interests.
CAB has organized many events familiar to students. They hosted mentalist Craig Karges’ performance, comedian Mike Palascak’s presentation and upcoming guest Raj Desai. CAB also runs “Things for Thursday,” with activities ranging from donut decorating to caricature artists. For students interested in nature, CAB offers a wide range of outdoor activities. In the past, they have hosted whitewater rafting and hiking in New Hampshire. CAB has also taken students to Block Island, New York City and Six Flags New England. CAB information on upcoming events and deadlines are always posted on the Salve Regina website.
In addition to comedy shows, coffeehouses, off-campus trips and recreational activities, CAB plans special events throughout the year. The Campus Activities Board offers many possibilities to take a break from school work and participate in hands-on activities. Not only are they an easy way to meet new people with similar interests, these events help students explore their opportunities on and off campus. CAB enriches the college experience by providing Salve Regina with memorable and enlightening gatherings.
