NEWPORT – The last time a state of emergency was declared in Rhode Island was Aug. 26, 1991. Hurricane Bob, a lowly Category 1 storm, was just about to strike parts of southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Nick Logothets, the director of emergency services for the Rhode Island Red Cross remembers the events of that day vividly.

They are in Paris, Lyon, London, Rome, Florence, Seville, Madrid, Cork and Sydney and their majors include Accounting, History, English, Marketing, Modern Languages, Administration of Justice, Art, Education, Cultural and Historic Preservation, Psychology, International Business, Politics and Economics.

Newport Nurse Raises Alcohol Awareness at SRU

In a powerful presentation on alcohol and its effects, an audience composed primarily of Salve Regina freshmen was moved by the personal story that the speaker gave last Wednesday in Bazarsky Lecture Hall.

Linda Chaves, an emergency room trauma nurse at Newport Hospital, delivered the presentation titled “Alcohol Awareness: Effects of Drinking and Driving.
