The Rwandan genocide happened 12 years ago, yet it is still consuming the minds

of people in the Salve Regina community who ask how our government and the

human race let it happen, and more importantly, what they are doing to prevent

such horrific events from taking place in the future.

The New French Film Festival is underway and the public’s response has been overwhelming. The opening night reception welcomed around 300 movie-goers on Sunday, March 19, 2006 to view “Bon Voyage” a murder mystery set in World War II as the Germans take Paris.

Melissa Ventresca, 24

Ventresca attended Salve for undergraduate studies and graduated in 2003 with a degree in Administration of Justice and a concentration in Juvenile Justice. She is currently attending Salve to obtain her Master’s in Rehabilitation Counseling.

Newport is currently celebrating Irish Heritage month. In honor of St. Patrick, local restaurants and organizations are participating in Irish festivities. The Festival of Fine Food is a tasty event welcoming chefs from Newport’s sister city, Kinsale, Ireland.

Salve Regina will be hosting its first ever College Improv Festival from March 24-25 at 7:30 p.m. The event will take place at Salve Regina University’s Theatre Studio in Mercy Hall.

The College Improv Festival will showcase nine different improvisational troupes from a variety of local colleges and universities.
