Event update!
It’s the weekend after Halloween and things are settling down, but that doesn’t mean you have to stay home! This weekend, newportFILM is offering a mini film festival on Friday, Nov. 4 and Saturday, Nov. 5. The three films will be shown at the Jane Pickens Theater.
This weekend, the films being shown are as follows:
Undefeated – Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. – The story of the Manassas Tigers’ undefeated 2009 football season.
Snowmen – Nov. 5 at 1 p.m. – A family friendly comedy following the story of three boys in their attempt to beat a Guinness World Record.
Being Elmo: A Puppeteer’s Journey – Nov. 5 at 7 p.m. – A documentary concerning the man behind the puppets of Sesame Street.
For the 7 p.m. showings, a cocktail reception will begin at 6 p.m. before the film begins. College students can purchase tickets at the door for $5 with a valid student ID. Non-student admission is $12 for film viewing only, and $20 with the reception included. If a student over 21 wishes to attend the cocktail party, the cost is $20 and a valid ID must be presented.
Mini-fests such as these occur one weekend every other month through the winter. The next one following the November dates will be on Jan. 13-14.
