The highly anticipated Rent-a-Rugger event commenced in Salve Regina’s Bazarsky Hall on October 23, 2009. About a hundred students attended the exciting outing, and much laughter ensued upon the fun and humorous show that the talented sports team presented for them.
Rent-a-Rugger is an annual fundraiser that helps the male rugby team earn money to help with costs of traveling and tournaments among other needs. The event was its third season, and it mirrored the immense success of its preceding years. The premise of the event has always been to auction each team member and his service to the most eager bidders. Each bidder is entitled to ask his or her rented rugger to do whatever it is they desire for four full hours, whether it be laundry, cooking, or any other cleaning task
At the recent fundraising event, both the audience and team members alike had a lot of fun and shared numerous laughs. Each auctioned team member presented his unique skills and admirable talents, much to the amusement and enjoyment of the audience.
Upon each bid, the team member received a humble introduction as he made his grand entrance upon the stage. Catchy, rhythmic music often pulsated in the background during his arrival, further emphasizing his entry. For their talent presentations, some expressed their dancing skills by busting out into special moves out upon the stage. Others presented their comical creativity by donning humorous outfits.
Each member received a good amount of eager bids among the audience, most of which were made by members of the female rugby team. All the total bids accumulated together were approximately $1,400, a great achievement that shall surely aid the team. This makes the event an overall success in both entertainment and benefit for the rugby team.
