Musician Greg Wood performs as part of the Coffee House Series this Wednesday, Mar. 24, at 8:00 p.m. in the Wakehurst Commuter Lounge.
Brandon Gavin, campus activities board’s chair of the Coffee House and concert committee, says that Wood is somewhat different than the past singer/ songwriters that have performed at Salve this year because his musical style ranges from punk music to folk music.
“One of the great things about Greg’s live shows is his use of live looping,” said Gavin. Live looping is when Wood plays, records, and loops a live vocal or guitar track and then plays or sings live lead over it. Gavin describes live looping as a great addition to the show because it is like having more than one person and a guitar on stage.
Gavin adds that in the recent past, Wood has shared the stage with Brand New, Maroon 5, and The Starting Line. He encourages students to come because it should “be a great show.”
According to Wood’s website (www.gregwood.net), the 26-year-old has 10 new songs recorded which he is “ready to shop,” meaning he is looking for a label and a professional team to support and distribute his music. He has performed as part of bands and on his own, and describes his performances as “pounding the pavement as hard as anyone out there.” Also according to the web site, Wood has been on eight US tours and received his degree from the Berklee College of Music.
