One of Salve Regina University’s newest organizations, the Gay, Straight, Lesbian and Bisexual Alliance (GSLBA), will be holding a day of silence on Wednesday, April 21.

This event will last nine hours and will recognize and protest the harassment, prejudice and discrimination that lesbian, gay or bisexual people face.

Anyone participating in the day of silence will be handing out cards with a message explaining their acts of silence, as well as keeping a vow of silence from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

GSLBA is an organization that promotes education, awareness, support and acceptance of GSLB students and works to reduce homophobia. The day of silence is also an official project of the gay, straight, lesbian education network in partnership with the student association.
