Haunted Happenings At Salve

There is never a dull moment at Salve during Halloween. Our school is always thinking of ways to get its students into the spirit of the season. Salve’s annual “Fright Week,” continued this year with events such as Ghosthunters, the Fright Week Dance, Pumpkin Decorating, and Things for Thursday in Wakehurst.

Ghosthunters is a TV show on Sci-Fi and Salve was able to bring the cast to our very own Bazarsky Lecture Hall to inform the students of their spooky experiences. Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson are the hosts of the show. They are a part of an organization called TAPS which is a group of people who travel up and down the country in search of the paranormal and things that “go bump in the night.” These two men do home investigations and inform the families of these homes of exactly what they find. The students at Salve got the privilege of listening to the ghosthunters’ stories and encounters. These bone-chilling stories were enough to spook the campus of Salve Regina!

Ochre Court was taken over by creatures of all kinds at the annual Fright Week Halloween dance! Students dressed up in their Halloween costumes and danced the night away for free admission. The Wakehurst Student Center continued its usual “Things for Thursday” on October 30th with a fall favorite, candy apples! Whether on the way to class or headed to the mailroom, students had the opportunity to stop by and enjoy a candy apple courtesy of Wakehurst. The Student Center also offered pumpkin carving and decorating. This was a fun way to get into the Halloween spirit and to provide students with home-made Halloween decorations for their dorm rooms or to give as gifts! Salve’s Fright Week was a great success and a “trick-or-treat” for all who participated!
