Twitter, Facebook, and the internet as a whole have changed the way the world works. We have become a society set on being social, and interactivity is key. Newspapers and the print industry have been called upon to adapt—creating news sites, e-books and apps to keep people connected.
The Mosaic believes in and supports this interactivity, and thus, a new photo contest has been born. Many of our staff have been living in Newport for a few years and consider themselves familiar with their surroundings. We’d like to know just how well Salve Regina Students know the world around them. For every issue, Mosaic readers will be able to test their Newport knowledge by participating in the new “Name that spot!” Mosaic Photo Contest.
For the contest, the Mosaic shall feature a photograph depicting a certain landmark, building, or spot located in the Newport area. Readers will be encouraged to try and see if they can guess the location of the picture, and send their best guesses to the Mosaic e-mail (SRUMosaic@gmail.com).
The location may be tough, but all for a worthy prize. Every student who submits the correct answer to the photo contest will have their name entered in a raffle for a $10 gift card to Jazzman’s. Readers are welcome to submit their own pictures to be featured in the Mosaic Photo Contest. Do you know of really wonderful spot around Newport that you love and think will have other readers stumped? Send a picture of this place to SRUMosaic@gmail.com with your name, year, and the location that the picture was taken (Remember, the bigger the photo, the better).
This contest will be in both online and print editions of the Mosaic, so keep your eyes peeled for pictures and for landmarks and you just might win.
