The Multicultural Student Organization (MSO) hosted its second annual Makeover Night on April 19 in the foyer at
Miley Hall.
After offering only manicures at last year’s event, this year’s group offered manicures, hair braids and twisties. Those working at the Makeover Night were students and MSO members.
The most popular treatment of the evening was a manicure. MSO also offered half head and full head braiding and twisties. Half head was $8. Full head was $12. Regular manicures were $3, French tip was $5.
Firt-year student Samantha Sandland was a participant of the second Makeover Night. “Honestly, I was just walking into Miley and I saw it,” she said. One of her good friends is a member of MSO and had informed her about the event.
Sandland sat patiently while her hair was being braided. She is considering
becoming a member of the MSO, also.
The event had the ambiance of a real beauty salon. The women attending talked about upcoming events like room draw and their majors. The smell of nail
polish remover evoked a feeling of female camaraderie. Listening to the conversations
one would learn that Nevercliff is the hot spot for next year and that med cards are a nightmare for nursing majors. Older students gave advice to younger students on what classes to take for their majors, as well as what teachers to avoid.
Participants yelled to passerby, encouraging them to participate themselves or
asking them what rooms they want for next year.
The group raised $125 at the event.

cultural dinners, retreats and special presentations.
