Attention Underworld fans: the latest soundtrack has been released into the world. This time, it’s not hard rock, alternative metal, or electronic body music. It is rock, plain and simple. Lakeshore Records definitely have a surprise in store for the fans who love the music
This 17-track album includes artists such as Evanescence, Lacey Sturm of Flyleaf, Linkin Park, Lacuna Coil, The Naked and Famous, Black Light Burns, and many more. Danny Lohner, a.k.a. Renholdër, alters the rock songs included in the soundtrack, giving some of these songs a “Dubstep” feel.
Two songs in the soundtrack were played in the film, and it was during the credits. The only music that was played during the film was Underworld: Awakening (Original Motion Picture Score) composed by Paul Haslinger. However, if the film were to incorporate all of the songs from the soundtrack, I feel like the beats and rhythms could work perfectly with the action sequences, especially the dubstep-like songs. Some of the songs are very fast-paced yet smooth and sleek, like the moves of a vampire warrioress such as the protagonist, Selene portrayed by Kate Beckinsale.
The artists sent in their tracks to Lohner and producers from Lakeshore Records, Braian McNeils and Eric Craig, putting catchy beats in place and perfecting the music of the Underworld, taking the soundtrack to a whole new level.
Tracks include “Made of Stone (Renholdër Remix)” featuring Evanescence, “Trip the Darkness (Ben Weinman Remix)” with Lacuna Coil, “It Rapes All In Its Path” by Black Light Burns, and “Heavy Prey” featuring Lacey Sturm of Flyleaf and ex-guitarist of rock band Filter, Geno Lenardo.
This soundtrack is available to buy on iTunes, though you’d have to buy the entire album, and it is in stores near you. For those who are fans of dubstep, rock, and/or the Underworld franchise, I highly recommend this soundtrack. It will give you a perspective on what the Underworld of the film is really like. As an added bonus, listening to this soundtrack may be enough to get you excited to see the films.
