NEWPORT, R.I.- Many wouldn’t tell from the looks of the Rodgers Recreational Center, but it has been doing its part in reducing energy use for years.

Del Malloy is the athletic director of the schools sports programs, and he also helped design of the building in 1996.

NEWPORT, R.I.–It was a cloudy afternoon at the Norman Bird Sanctuary in Middletown, as over a dozen young adults in bright orange shirts pulled weed-like plants from the ground with shovels. They weren’t criminals repaying a debt to society, but instead students taking part in a community service program of a local university.

NEWPORT, RI- Strength and conditioning training is a crucial component to the success of athletes in today’s games. As a result, Salve Regina has begun plans to expand its fitness center and improve the summer strength and conditioning program.

Some of these plans include re-arranging the fitness center by reconfiguring the space to fit more machines.

Pushing his blonde, shaggy hair out of his eyes, Andrew McMahon, 25, perfectly tuned his instrument. Piano rock, as many of his fans have dubbed his style, is what Jack’s Mannequin is all about. Six hours before his performance, on the stage constructed by students earlier that morning, McMahon sound checked the keys of his piano.

April 24 Event to Raise Funds for Flying Kites, Kenyan Orphanage

Flying Kites, a non-profit organization, will host a fundraiser on Thursday, April 24 from 6-9 p.m. at Sardella’s Italian Restaurant on Memorial Blvd. in Newport.

The event will raise funds for a Kenyan orphanage (run by Flying Kites) and plans for a children’s center for orphaned, abused and homeless children in Kenya.
