As the summer fades into fall and Newport’s tourists leave this seasonal location until next year, times remain busy for Larry Stanford. This is because the popularity of his “Ghost Tours of Newport, R.I.” is at its’ height.

It’s the beginning of a new semester…but this one is like no other. I am studying abroad in Seville, Spain.

In “Poseidon,” Josh Lucas plays the mysterious Dylan Johns, a lone-wolf, square-jawed, tough-talking card shark who reluctantly finds himself leading a band of survivors on a climb through a capsized cruise ship.

The journey is rife with peril, from cavernous elevator shafts and fiery explosions to water-filled escape routes.

The Multicultural Student Organization (MSO) hosted its second annual Makeover Night on April 19 in the foyer at

Miley Hall.

After offering only manicures at last year’s event, this year’s group offered manicures, hair braids and twisties. Those working at the Makeover Night were students and MSO members.

Yankees fan or Mets fan. “What do you think?” asks Tim Flynn in a voice that almost seems to say, “And what are you gonna do about it if you don’t like my answer?” Such is the confident, self-assured and all the while witty nature of the director of Shake-a-Leg, the Newport-based nonprofit devoted to independence for people with spinal cord related disabilities.
