Standing in the pouring rain, Hannah Miller tugs at her Salve sweatshirt as she talks with prospective students. It is her last Connections day as a tour guide and the reminder sets her into a spiral of chatting with the other graduating seniors.

NEWPORT, R.I. – Students, teachers and members of the Newport community took time out of their day to remember the late Pope John Paul II Friday, in a mass at Ochre Court.

Providence Bishop Thomas J. Tobin asked of the churches in Rhode Island to celebrate mass honoring the late pope along with churches around the world.

One of the main factors in my decision to attend Salve Regina University was the fact that it is a Catholic school. My parents sacrificed a lot to send me to a Catholic grade school and high school, and I thought that I could show them how much I appreciated it by continuing my Catholic education at a Catholic university.
