According to the National Center for Public Policy in Higher Education, tuition rate increases and slashed state funding have contributed to 250,000 potential students being denied acceptances this past year. The center finds that legislators and governors are using college tuitions as short-term budget fixes.

Salve lost a student, teammate and friend Feb. 25 in Nicholas Kelly.

Kelly, who passed away unexpectedly in his sleep from as-yet-undetermined causes, was a junior Administration of Justice major from Abington, Mass., and Seahawks football cornerback for two years.

Alyx Kellington, a well known photographer and public speaker will be giving a lecture at Salve on March 16 at 7 p.m. in the Rogers rec center. The lecture, sponsored by the Mosaic, is titled: “The Role of the Media: Exploitation or Education?”

The lecture deals with Kellington’s exploration of the role of the media and its responsibilities.
