College students don’t often hear or use the words “women” and “death row” in their everyday conversations. Nor do they ponder and lull over the controversy this words evoke. Between studying for finals, writing term papers and shopping for Christmas gifts, life as we know it is pretty hectic.

Decisions with Regard to Ending Life. That is how it’s phrased in Dr. Cowdin’s syllabus for his “Christian Ethics and Biomedical Issues” class. And for a few weeks at the beginning of the semester, the class held discussions regarding such issues. One issue in particular, the recent Terri Schiavo case in Florida, aided such discussions in the class. Despite Salve Regina University being a Catholic institution, the discussion was not as controversial as one might imagine.

This year, Student Government Association (SGA) is making strides to strengthen the Salve community. Efficient communication remains an essential goal throughout the campus. SGA would like to facilitate the passing of information within the university. While placing students in the forefront, there is new emphasis on better accessibility to elected student representatives.

It’s Christmas Time in Newport Mansions!

Imagine strolling down Bellevue Avenue on a late November night – the snow peacefully falling, the sky a crystal dark blue. The Mansions are magnificently adorned for the holidays, complete with garlanded trees and white Christmas lights sparkling through frosty glass panes.

“Dashboard Confessional” is not another “processed boy band” or a “one hit wonder” phenomenon taking over the Billboard 100 for countless weeks then quickly forgotten. It is the solo act created by the talented Chris Caraba that has been credited a major influence for the emo craze in the industry.
