The members of Salve’s dance company are getting ready for the University’s fall
semester performance entitled “Jump!” The dancers will be performing two shows in Rodgers Recreation Center, a night performance on Friday, Nov. 17 and a Saturday afternoon matinee on Nov. 18.
This year, the company is led by senior captains Melissa Gibson and Kristi Kenyon
and junior captains Brianna Carter and Amanda Graves. The team will be performing routines from hip hop and jazz to Irish step dancing and ballet.
The week before the show, “Tech Week,” is crunch time for the company dancers. Starting this Sunday, dancers will meet in Rodgers every night to run the whole show twice.
“Tech Week can be a little stressful because it takes up a great deal of time for that whole week, but it’s so important because we finally get a chance to work all together and support each other as a group before the big show,” says Junior Amanda Cuda who has been a member of the dance company since her Freshman year at Salve.
Tech Week is a very hectic time for dancers, juggling school work, activities and other obligations while spending an average of three hours a night rehearsing for the show.
Show support for Salve’s dancers and attend the fall performance. Tickets will be sold at the door. The admission policy for Friday night’s show is “pay-what-you-can” or donate a canned good. Admission Saturday is $5 for students and $7 for general admission.
