As most of you know, this year’s Spring Concert is quickly approaching. This Saturday, April 30th, one of the most up-and-coming names in country music will grace our campus–Kane Brown.
The concert will be held at 8 p.m. in Rodgers Recreation Center with an opening act performed by a student band, the Leaky Roofs.
Tickets are already on sale– $10 for students and $15 for guests– and will continue be on sale throughout the CAB barbecue on the Wakehurst lawn this upcoming Friday, April 29th, starting at 5 p.m.
The barbecue will serve as the concert kickoff, taking the place of Miley as a dinner option. Concert committee director, Danielle Lynch, says to expect “American style food” and an “Americana” theme throughout the event. Think mac and cheese, BBQ, and a beer garden (if you’re over 21, of course).
Other things to expect at the BBQ include a mechanical bull, the option to tie-dye shirts to wear to the concert (red, blue, and teal for sexual assault awareness month), and a performance by the Leaky Roofs to mark the kickoff of the concert.
Lynch explained that CAB’s intentions are to “start with an artist that is not well-known to get a feel for the country fanbase” at Salve Regina University.
Kane Brown’s EP, Chapter 1, peaked at #3 on the country charts in March and has held a high standing since then. His highest reaching single, “Used to Love You Sober,” (below) hit #2 on the country charts in November of last year when his album was released.
