Students will be given the opportunity to take a much-needed breather from all the hoopla of college exams. The student-run organization VIRGO, or Volunteers in Reaching Out and Guiding Others, will host a Stressbuster event for Salve Regina students on Monday May 3, 2010 from 10 to 12 p.m. in Miley cafeteria.
For the price of a single dollar or a canned good, students can become involved in the excitement of crafts, food, music and movies. But perhaps the best part will be the message chairs, which will be available to all students who are in much need of a release from hectic exam schedules and stress.
The 1960s will be the main theme of the exciting event. Known as “The Swinging Sixties,” the era is widely known as a time of peace and just simply letting go of all your problems and living in the moment, which makes itself a perfect theme for the Stressbuster event.
According to Kristina Minko, the president of VIRGO, the group has held the Stressbuster event for many years. Minko and the other members of VIRGO very much enjoy hosting the event because of the great benefits it provides the students who attend. When describing these benefits, Minko said, “It lets students relax and take a break from studying, which is very important because we all know how stressful finals can be.”
Stressbuster also provides students a chance to spend time with dear friends in the final hours before everyone returns home for the year. With all the fun activities the event will have to offer, the hours of the Stressbuster would definitely be time very well spent.
All donations to this event will be sent to Haiti.
