Student Activities Brings the Wild West to Salve

By Ciara Speller –

Some of you might be thinking, ‘It’s about time for another dance’ already, after the success of the Halloween Dance. For those who attendedthe Halloween dance on Oct. 28 in Ochre Court and enjoyed themselves, then the next dance being held on Nov. 11 is an event which should not be missed. The theme of the dance is “Wild West,” and all attending should be dressed in their best cowgirl/cowboy attire. Pull out the plaid shirts, jeans, boots and even 10 gallon hats which will be perfect for the occasion. There will be cacti, balloons and other wild decorationsthat will be setting the “Wild West” theme and surely making the dance a fun experience. A mechanical bull will also be placed on the floor, at no extra cost to students but will allow them to experience some real wild rodeo action.
While the theme is western, that is not to say that the music played will only be country. WSRU will be playing genres of music from pop to hip-hop and even house music, as well as playing any requested songs. There will also be about five different DJs bringing their own personal styles to the music played and songs that students want to hear.
Freshman Victoria Sardelli mentioned that she “had a lot of fun at the Halloween dance, but it could have been a lot more fun if more upperclassmen had gone.” This comment urges juniors and seniors to attend this dance, as it may be one of the last opportunities they have to wear that Stetson in public. Take advantage of this opportunity and go out for a night of good ole western fun. Tickets are $5, and can be purchased at the Student Activities Center (in the bottom of Wakehurst). Also, note that Student Activities is always looking for new ideas for theme dances so please feel free to email them with your great ideas.
