You probably know Eddie Cullinane. He’s either on the executive board of your favorite club, putting on some event you’re excited to go to, or heading up a community conscious project you’re involved in. Point is, this kid is going places.
Originally from King Phillip High in Wrentham, Massachusetts, Eddie has always been involved in his community. In fact, in high school Eddie was given “Most involved” as a superlative. He then was given “Most likely to be offended if they didn’t get a superlative” as a follow up. Eddie chose Salve out of eleven other schools to which he applied.
At Salve, Eddie is a member of the executive board for CAB and Salvethon, an orientation leader, an SGA senator, and one of three recently nominated students for the Rhode Island Collaborative, a violence prevention project. “I really enjoy helping and working with others,” he said. “It’s just my nature to get involved as much as possible.”
Along with these positions, Eddie is also an RA on the third floor of Walgreen Hall. “Going into the job you have an idea of what your responsibilities are going to be, but once you are actually in the role, there is more than you expect,” he said. “Overall it’s been great so far. I’m loving getting to know my residents.” And his residents love getting to know him. He is known around the third floor of Walgreen as “Trap Lord Eddy” or simply “Trap,” despite him running a tight ship and being named RA of the month by Resident Life.
From participating in all of his respective activities, plus classes, Eddie is often heading to or coming from a meeting. “Because I’m so busy, by the time I get back to my room, I’m just ready to pass out,” he said.
Outside of his extra-curricular activities, Eddie is a double major in History and Secondary Education with a minor in Special Education. He hopes to be involved in education at some level after his time at Salve, whether that is secondary or higher education. However, his dream job is to be the White House chief of staff, which stems from his affinity for White House based television shows such as Scandal, House of Cards, and West Wing. “I don’t really know how accurate [the shows] are, but I think it would be really cool to be in that position,” Eddie said.
