The Rocket Summer’s EP, “You Gotta Believe”

Two years since the release of their CD, “Do You Feel,” The Rocket Summer is back with wistful lyrics, toe-tapping beats and powerful pop tracks that will keep listeners hooked on their latest EP “You Gotta Believe.”

The EP starts off with the energetic single and title track, “You Gotta Believe.” With a catchy chorus and danceable beat, this high energy song comes soaring through the stereo speakers. Bryce Avary, the sole artist behind The Rocket Summer, delivers the lyrics with a sound of true optimism in his voice to match the hopeful lyrics.

Track two, “Hills and Valleys,” discusses the ups and downs of love and staying together through “the hard end of harder times.” The thoughtful piano piece matched with Avary’s unique vocals plays out perfectly with the lyrics on holding on through the good and bad times.

“Light” is as bright as its title would suggest. The song builds energy and then it brings it back down, giving the song the excitement and momentum of a rollercoaster.

The EP’s final track “The Fight,” will keep even the most downtrodden soul fighting to hold on to faith. Throughout the EP, Avary’s passion comes through in every lyric, chord and drumbeat. The only downfall of the EP is that it ends too soon.

The full-length album “Of Angels and Men” will be released in January 2010. The Rocket Summer is currently on tour with Forever the Sickest Kids until Dec. 5, 2009.
