It’s that time of year again: Bachelorette season! It has been a long five months of waiting for this premiere, since under normal circumstances, The Bachelorette begins airing in May. There was even a period of time when it was unknown whether or not the show was going to be able to film at all. Finally, in July, word got out that filming had begun. Needless to say, I was jumping for joy. Something was finally going right in 2020!
I was very excited to watch this season, not only because I had to wait five extra months to watch it, but because there were so many rumors going around in the news about it! I do not think I went a day without seeing something on Snapchat or Instagram about something going on at The La Quinta Resort in Palm Springs, where the entire season was filmed. All of the news made it seem as though this season is going to be “the most dramatic season yet,” as Chris Harrison likes to say while promoting every single season of the show. But, from what I have seen so far, in the first episode and in the promos, this may just be the most dramatic season yet.
Let’s start off with some of the men that we met on Tuesday night:
- AJ was a nervous wreck. I am not sure what exactly happened, but he somehow hurt Clare’s hand when they first met. So, she sent him home.
- Bennett, who drove up the driveway in a Rolls Royce and was wearing a white scarf, seems as though he wants women to be attracted to him because of his money. Why else would he wear a white scarf with his suit?
- Blake Moynes and Clare really hit it off. She informed him that he was the only guy to reach out to her on social media during quarantine, and although it is against the rules of the show, she really appreciated it. For a split second, I thought that he was going to get the first impression rose.
- Eazy walked out of the limo rocking a salmon suit. When I tell you he rocked it, he rocked it. Is it even a season of The Bachelorette without someone wearing a salmon suit? Nope. He is also a former NFL player. Is it even a season of The Bachelorette without a former NFL player? Nope.
- When Kenny stepped out of the limo, I said to my friends, “He looks like he’s in a boy band.” Well, it turns out that he is the manager of a boy band! If anyone is curious, he is the manager of a band called The Boy Band Night, not One Direction. I’m sorry for the disappointment.
- Tyler C. came out of the limo looking for drama. Actually, he was looking for drama before even getting out of the limo! He somehow found out that one of the other men, Yosef, was apparently talking to another girl during quarantine. He brought it up to Clare, with obvious hopes of Yosef being sent home and him becoming Clare’s “hero”. Well, his plan completely backfired. Clare sent Tyler C. home and gave Yosef a rose. Sorry Tyler C., there is only room for one Tyler C. in Bachelor Nation, and that is Tyler Cameron.
Now, let’s talk about the most interesting part of Tuesday night’s episode. Clare completely freaked out when she met Dale. As soon as he walked away, she said, while on the verge of tears, “I knew it. I definitely feel like I just met my husband.” I think everyone watching jumped out of their seats when she said that.
I have seen a lot of rumors about Clare and Dale, and have come up with some of my own theories about the two. I saw many articles saying that Clare leaves the show a week or two into filming to be with Dale. Did they get engaged? I am not completely sure. But, according to several articles, she had no interest in pursuing any other relationships because she knew that she was going to end up with Dale. I think this is kind of suspicious. How can you be so confident that you have met “the one” only a week or two into knowing them while also dating 30 other men?
I have a theory that they were talking during quarantine on social media. Yes, I know that she told Blake Moynes that he was the only one to reach out to her during quarantine. I think she was trying to cover up for the fact that she had been talking to Dale. She just seemed overly excited and much more nervous when Dale stepped out of the limo compared to when any of the other men did.
There are also rumors that Tayshia Adams, who is from Colton Underwood’s season of The Bachelor and season 6 of Bachelor in Paradise, replaces Clare as the Bachelorette. Although she is not in the season promos at all, there is foreshadowing of Clare leaving the show.
Here are some of the quotes said by some of the men during the season promo:
- “I expected way more from the oldest bachelorette.”
- “I just don’t know how you can be so sure so quick.”
- “How about the 15 of us just walk out?”
- “I didn’t expect the process to be cut short.”
- “Okay, do we get a new bachelorette in here?”
- Chris Harrison says to Clare, “Congratulations, you’ve just blown up The Bachelorette.”
From these quotes, it seems like Clare leaves, or wants to leave, the show early. Does she want to leave with one of the men? Without one of the men? Does she leave with Dale?
I think that this was the most interesting first episode of any show in the Bachelor franchise. If you watched Tuesday night’s episode, there is no way that you are not drawn to watch how this season plays out.
I think that this season will be the last time that Chris Harrison says that the season will be “the most dramatic season yet.” Will it ever get more dramatic than this?
