Newport, RI is a beautiful island with no shortage of places to go and things to do. In the fall specifically there is the Fortress of Nightmares, Escobar’s Highland Farm corn maze, ghost tours, and many more fun activities.
The Fortress of Nightmares at historic Fort Adams State Park is a haunted tunnel tour. It’s fun, scary, and you are guaranteed to have a great time.
It takes place Friday and Saturday nights from 7 P.M. to 10 P.M. starting October 11th until October 26th. Admission is $15 per person, but it’s definitely worth the price. Bring your friends and go experience the scary fortress of nightmares!
Another fun fall activity is Escobar’s Highland Farm corn maze. It takes place through Sunday November 3rd at the Escobar’s Highland Farm. Admission is $8 for ages 12 and up. It is an eight-acre corn maze that sits at the top of Aquidneck Island in Portsmouth, RI. It is located on a traditional family farm. Don’t be afraid if you can’t find your way back, they’ll rescue you if you get lost in the maze!
The farm also offers other family fun such as hayrides, a play area, and a pumpkin patch.
Going along with the dark and scary trend, there are also nightly ghost tours through the month of October. The tour departs from the Mainsail Restaurant at the Newport Marriot around 8 P.M. It is a lantern-led walk down Newport’s haunted streets with a mission of discovering ghosts. Admission is $17 for adults, $16 for seniors, and $10 for children. Bring your camera and flashlight to discover the ghosts of downtown Newport.
As you can see there are many things to do during the fall season in and around Newport, RI. Whether you take part in the Halloween festivities or just sit by the marina watching the boats sail around before it gets too cold, you can always join in on the fun and get involved in the community!
